pop-appeal.

This is:. pop fashion. Old fashion soda pop caps, painted in various hip colors and characters. Sold as a magnetic souvenir for Pai, Thailand.
Pakorn:. Brought these at another walking street, Northern-er of Chiang Mai, in the Pai province. Thought these were so cute, I think they sold it for about fifty cent each which it not bad. I love the hand-painted quality of it, but some how it still looks very put together. I don't know if it's the whole nostalgic of the small town charm. But hey it only took me (from Chiang Mai) 136 kms and 762 sharp curves for me to get these. Or it's just another DIY project away.

snotty b*tches!

This is:. cocky, conceited, pompous, pretentious. Canvas bag.
Pakorn:. Well this innocent looking canvas bag is all of the above. It can't and won't be translated by me (it'll get lost in translation) but trust me the attitude is all there. There is nothing ordinary about it! Enjoy--all my Thai readers.
To those that can't read this let's talk about how the Thais recycle.
Man and do they recycle. This bag started its life as an ordinary canvas bag that was probably given out at a convention or some sort of government event. Which is ordinary enough, there was probably such a surplus that they resold/given/stolen/took [most likely at the government cost]. Then some one took such care crossing out the original locations. But left the logo just in case you didn't know where it came from. Then they meticulous sewed on a large pocket that hides about 3/4 of the logo, silk screen this fabulous message on the back which is now the front! I bought this bag for cheap, and I mean cheap, about one dollar... but with so much work and time that was spend on this I would've gladly given them two for their creativity. Heck, did I mention the even sew a slot for pen holder.

w/o.

This is:. just the right amount of garnish. Wooden bark pencil decorated with contemporary hill tribe head, with painted cartoon-like faces.

Pakorn:. Picked these delightful things up in Northern Thailand, Chiang Mai Walking Street. It's definitely my all time favorite shopping place [minus the mosquitoes]. Cooler weather of the north, an abundance of inspiration and all things and everything handmade at a very reasonable price. We planed our trip for the weekend just so we can hit up the market on both Sat. and Sun. But with our luck and the unpredicted monsoon season, it was mostly rained out. Blah... just look at doll #1 [left] for my expression right now! Anywho, pick up a couple of great things.

This-n-that:. I was hanging out at a Jim Thompson's exhibit and saw one of my favorite quote ever.
"I CAN LIVE WITHOUT A LOT OF PRETTY THING"
Which is completely true, but so not Pakorn. So I change to to something more fitting:
Opt One- "I CAN LIVE WITH A LOT OF PRETTY THING"
but my Fav- "A LOT OF PRETTY THINGS CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT ME"

now that's much better.

perfectly disgusting!

This is:. ugh! you are so perfect. Letterpress, 'Barbie' pink wooden type poster on a Cream BFK Rives, 28" x 38"with beveled edges.
Pakorn:. I guess this is a sneak preview of my trip to asia, I will load additional pictures in the following weeks and months. So stay tuned! Overall we had a blast! Traveling throughout Thailand, got a glimpse of Laos, stared at Burma, (didn't make it to) Cambodia, and struck a pose in Malaysia. On the beach, in a taxi, on a bus, drifted in a raft, I carried my precious work with me. People glared, stared, mumbled, peeked, and best of all whispered about my creamy creation. Besides--I didn't have much to say except, Ugh! you are so perfect!

Pakorn:.Don't you just hate it when you see something and all you just want is to 'squash' it. Maybe it's just too perfect. Well, don't get me started! I often have that feeling–now, don't send me to anger management! I'm just having one of my 'I wish I though of it moment.' Well, I turn that tantrum in to something good = this poster. I finished it and set it aside hoping to find a good use for it. And did I ever! I took it on vacation with me throughout s. east asia.
